Teaching

Introduction of the focus of software engineering

The teaching objective of our Research Group for Business Informatics and Software Engineering is to educate our students with well-founded knowledge and concepts of software engineering. These include especially architectures, patterns and internet technologies. Our students learn to evaluate and adopt new technological developments. The perspective of a programmer or an expert for a single technology is not sufficient for this purpose. Therefore, we teach a perspective that is oriented on innovation and management. As usual in the field of Business Informatics, the focus of the education is based on the process level.

As a part of the teaching and research group of business informatics in Essen, we are proud to prepare our graduates for their working life in an excellent way, so that they can choose between many alternatives of working offerings. There also is a great feedback on side of the employers who confirm the high quality of our education. We are also open-minded for the influence of business informatics and software engineering in practice to form our education offering. Nevertheless, there is a scientific approach that must be considered.
