CompetitionDotNet

Competition.NET

A software for the support of different processes of competitions and tournaments

CompetitionDotNet was a project of our research group in cooperation with UNIAKTIV, the centre for social learning and social responsibility (Zentrum für gesellschaftliches Lernen und soziale Verantwortung) of the University of Duisburg-Essen.

CompetitionDotNet was supposed to support sport clubs to plan, organize and implement competitions. For the support of different types of sports, it was necessary to enable the illustration of different types of competitions like tournaments, leagues and individual evaluations. Therefore, the software provides a selection of frequently occurring types of sports. It is also possible to use a tool to create other types of sports. In this way, sport clubs are able to organize their competitions for any kind of sport. Moreover, CompetitionDotNet was supposed to enable a direct print of the lists of results and certificates.

The system is based on a client server architecture. In this way, it is possible to enter data during a competition and to view the results after a competition with several clients. There are two types of clients: A web application and a windows client. The management of the competitions only takes place through the windows client. The application server is supposed to manage the data of the tournaments and these data are stored in a database.
