Bachelor and master projects of the WS 2015/16
Website, app and dashboard conception in cooperation with the local FinTech start-up micobo
Our chair was able to offer and to perform different practice-oriented partial projects in cooperation with the micobo GmbH (a local financial technology start-up) for the winter semester 2015/16. The projects had focuses on:
- the usability and design study of the website
- the development of a payment plugin
- the development of an investor dashboard
- the conception of a mobile app for investors
The project involved seven different groups with a group size of 2 to 4 bachelor or master students. Within a period of 6 month the students were able to improve and extend their skills in a practice-oriented way. The focus of the project was the conception and the scientific design of the specific theme focuses. Moreover, the development of a plugin was relevant as well. Afterwards the students had to implement their concepts with a click prototype.
At the beginning of the project the students presented their plan for each partial project during a kick off meeting. Afterwards the students carried out the plan for their projects independently and in coordination with the micobo GmbH. Our research group was the contact of our students for any questions regarding the content, the technology or the organization of the project themes. As a result, it was possible to have individual meetings with our research group members to discuss about many important questions.
For the implementation of the project the students professionally made use of different methods and tools of the areas software development and usability engineering. Our research group supported them by providing a central vision control.
The students completed the project with a final presentation at the end of the semester. During this presentation, the students presented the results of their project for the micobo GmbH and our research group within 30 to 45 minutes.
All the groups could convince the micobo GmbH and our research group because of their engagement und creativity. Despite of the multiple placing of the same themes which was based on a high demand for the project, the groups had very different results and they set their own focuses.
